The Thompson House, a national historic landmark , was opened to the public in the summer of 2012. 

This authentic home built in the 1880s contains all the original artifacts, furniture and tools used by, Hattie Thompson. Experience the story of Carbondale’s past, its development as a place known for closeness to the land, spirit of community and magnificent scenery. The home is one of a few authentically-furnished Historic House Museums in the country.
