Local grant money protects Museum collections from UV damage

Profiles in Partnership
It takes a community!
Profiles in Partnership is a Mt. Sopris Historical Society initiative
dedicated to the individuals and organizations throughout our
community that have donated their time, talent and resources to
the Historical Society making it possible for us to realize our mission.
This month we thank The Thrift Shop of Aspen and
The Garfield County Board of Commissioners for their respective
matching grants of $2,500 to purchase and install shades at the
Thompson House Museum to protect the interior furnishings and artifacts
from ongoing sun damage.  With this total $5,000 contribution
the Mt. Sopris Historical Society will be able to provide much
needed protective cover for the majority of the houses 20 plus
standard size windows! Going forward The Historical Society will
need to raise additional monies to accommodate a number of custom
windows including floor to ceiling glass panels, which originated from
John Osgood's Cleveholm Manner, which is known today as
The Redstone Castle.
Thank you for helping us save our communities treasures!
